Entrance Requirements for first year Bachelor of Optometry
The Bachelor of Optometry degree is a 4 year full time degree.
Students who matriculated in 2007 and before: A matric exemption with a minimum of 36 matriculation points.
Students who matriculated from 2008: APS score of 33, with NSC subjects English (HL/FAL), LO 4, Mathematics, Life Sciences or Physical Sciences all at level 4. Preference will be given to candidates who have obtained better grades in Mathematics and Physical Science.
Students who do not meet the above requirements can do a first year BSc degree and re-apply. Courses to be taken in the first year are Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Students who have completed a BSc degree with the relevant courses will also be considered.
Students who are in the Science Foundation Programme will only be considered if they get an A aggregate.
